(Matthew 8: 2 -3)
A man with leprosy came and knelt before Him and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.
Jesus was always willing to heal anyone who was sick during His work on earth. And as He is yesterday, so He is today and forever. He still heals today.
(Hebrews 13:8)
Healing involves the repairing of damaged tissue(s), organs, and the biological system as a whole, and the resumption of (normal) functioning.
Why do we need healing?
So we can live long, healthy lives on the earth as witnesses for Jesus. Just like David who mentioned that he shall not die but live to declare the works of the Lord. (Psalm 118:17)
Healing is part of the great commission because God wants all men saved and in health.
“As you go, proclaim this message: The kingdom of heaven has come near. Heal those who are ill, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons.” (Matthew 10: 7- 10.)
The door of evangelism is opened to the hearts of men to receive Christ when they see healing.
“Aeneas, Peter said to him, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and roll up your mat. Immediately Aeneas got up. All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord” (Acts 9: 34-35)
Just one miracle and two cities turned to the Lord. Indeed, the goodness of God leads men to repentance. (Romans 2:24)
The Demands of Receiving the Gift of Healing for Mission work.
Receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, for you cannot perform by your power or skills (Acts 1: 5 -8)
Grow in the knowledge of God’s word (2 Peter 1: 2-3)
Step out in faith believing that when you pray for the sick, they will be healed. (Mark 16: 17 -18).
Engage the mystery of fasting and prayer for empowerment: (Mathew 17: 19 -21).
Go with the consciousness of the authority in the name of Jesus. (Acts 3:6 & John 14:14)
*Your Role in Receiving Healing and Retaining it.*
Stand firm on the Word of God (Psalm 103:2-3)
Avoid the negative voices and thoughts of your mind and the signs and symptoms of your body. (Romans 4:19)
Eliminate doubt and cast your concerns on Him.
(1 Peter 5:7)
Make positive confessions and never let go
(Hebrews 10:23)
Finally, missions and the gifts of healing are God’s perfect plan for His church because He wants all men to enjoy divine health, which invariably draws men to God.
