Today’s article is a continuation of what was discussed earlier (Click here to read Part 1). We talked about how we are vessels, who our maker is and how we can be profitable. Yes! We are vessels in the hands of God and we are vessels made in his image. Today, we’ll focus on the last two points which are hindrances to being profitable and the reward of profit.

HINDRANCES TO BEING PROFITABLE

The works of the flesh:

Galatians 5: 19 -21: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variances, emulations, wrath, strife, sedition, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

We are to give up the works of the flesh, which are obstacles to our profit.

Infact there are so many scriptures that come to mind as I write this the bible says in John 6:63 that the flesh profits nothing.

Sometimes it may even be an excuse we’ve made up. Oh! I’ll start next week, oh I’ll do it next month e.t.c. Hebrews 12:1-3 says Let us lay aside every weight that easily burdens us and run this race with patience (Hebrews 12:1-3). 

What is that thing, what is that obstacle what is that situation, that excuse, that distraction standing in the way of the fulfilment of your calling. Lay it down.

THE REWARD OF PROFIT

1. Increase: 

And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.

Matthew 25:20‭-‬21 KJV

Even in the physical we tend to entrust more into the hands of someone who has showed himself faithful. Reward will always follow diligence. 

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

John 15:2 KJV

2. Prompt response to God’s word opens you up to supernatural turnaround: 

LUKE 5:5-7: And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they in-closed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

Personal testimony – After our wedding, my husband and I started having financial challenges and breakdown in our business to the extent that we could not feed ourselves talk more of paying house rent. People like friends and family mocked us but that did not stop our dedication to God. We sold some of our wedding gifts and took the money to a village church, started with our level by sowing monthly to a rural mission church project, winning souls, praying kingdom advancement prayer and opening up our home for house fellowship. God visited us and began to change our story, our business was restored and another branch was opened outside the country, we now have what to eat, give to those that mocked us with many other blessing.

3. Generational Blessing:

 Psalm 112: 1-3: Praise the Lord!(Hallelujah) Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who fears (reveres and worships) the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. His (spiritual) offspring shall be mighty upon earth; the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Prosperity and welfare are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

You will be a trans generational force whose record can never be erased in history because you are a profitable vessel. There are people whose names can never be forgotten because they decided to walk with the Lord. Generations are secure because of them. Starting with people like Abraham in the bible to men being used by God in these modern times. Nations are being blessed by virtue of their service. Brethren, the reward of partnering with God is limitless. It may not look like it sometimes but you cannot serve God and regret. It pays to serve Jesus. 

Finally I’ll close with the words of Jesus in the book of Mathew 19:29: And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
